Pallet Racking

The chances are, if you have dedicated any space within your operation to storage in the form of a ware house or large stock room, then you have made some consideration to installing pallet racking in order to make the most of the room that you have available. Pallet racking allows you to create a completely orderly storage area and leave materials loaded onto pallets in order to make it a much more straightforward matter to either move them around an industrial facility or factory, or prepare them for external distribution on trucks.

By creating a dedicated materials storage area within your facility, and using rackings include pallet racking, drive in racking, cantilever racking, mezzanine racking, flow racking that is laid out appropriately, you can keep both internal and external distribution systems running as efficiently as possible, and this will have a major impact on the profitability of your company.

The height of the building will have a major impact on how many tiers of storage you are able to install within a given area, while other things that you will need to consider include what kind of fork lift trucks you are planning to operate, and how much space they will require between the rows of storage space that you are going to install.

The actual installation of pallet racking is a complex task that requires a great deal of care to be taken. Typically, racks will be loaded with very heavy materials, so making sure that you choose the highest quality structures and have them properly built is very important. All of the columns need to be firmly bolted to the floor, and will require shims to be placed underneath them where necessary to ensure that the actual shelving is completely flat – this prevents loads from slipping around.
